Biography

Nurse Lecturer, University of Canberra | GNLI Scholar, International Council of Nurses Belynda Abbott is a highly experienced nurse leader and educator with over 24 years in the Australian healthcare system. She currently serves as a Nurse Lecturer at the University of Canberra and is a Global Nurse Leadership Institute (GNLI) Scholar through the International Council of Nurses (ICN). Throughout her career, Belynda has held a range of senior nursing leadership roles, including Nursing Director of Education and Research, Nurse Educator, Nurse Manager, and Nurse Unit Manager, with experience spanning the Northern Territory and Queensland. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Belynda played a pivotal role as Assistant Director of Nursing in the Queensland Health Emergency Operations Centre, where she supported the operationalisation of COVID-19 screening clinics and hotel quarantine services. Belynda is a published author and thought leader in nursing education. She co-authored a textbook on the Monitoring and Administration of Intravenous Medications for Enrolled Nurses (Cengage Publishing) and contributed a chapter titled "Nursing in the Time of COVID-19" to the Australian College of Nursing’s (ACN) publication No Longer Silent: Voices of 21st Century Nurses. Her leadership within the ACN includes serving as a Board Director, Chair of the Queensland Chapter, Emerging Nurse Leader mentor, presenter at the Institute of Leadership programs and member of the New Generation of Nurses Faculty. Belynda was awarded Fellowship of the Australian College of Nursing in 2014, recognising her significant contributions to the profession. She has presented internationally, including at the 2013 International Council of Nurses (ICN) Symposium and the 2025 ICN Congress in Helsinki, where she shared her GNLI project on enhancing heat safety for vulnerable populations in the Western Pacific region.

Biography

Terri Antonio, RN, DipPsych, GCertNsg, MMgnt, FCHSM CHE, AACN, MAPNA, AICGG. Director Clinical Governance, Serco Terri is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years’ experience working in health and human services. She is Director Clinical Governance for Serco’s Community Services Business Unit in AsPac. She is responsible for clinical leadership and governance of Serco’s health-related contracts and provides health SME support for growth activities. She is a Fellow and Certified Health Executive of the Australasian College of Health Services Managers and a member of the Australian College of Nursing National Nurse Executive Faculty. She has previously held positions including Health Services Chief Executive Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Nursing, Consultant - Health services organisational improvement & innovation and Subject Matter Expert - Health care service solutions and transformational change. During her career she has played a key role in numerous successful organisational transformational change management activities including; Serco’s transition of on-base health services for the Australian Defence Force Health Services Contract, Southern Queensland Correctional Centre’s transition from a Male to Female health service model, the health services solution for the Adelaide Remand Centre and Western Australia’s Centre for National Resilience, Department of Health & Human Services Victoria’s Disability Services de-institutionalisation program, Grampians Region’s Maternity and Neonatal Referral Service and Australia’s introduction to the International ICS Improved Wound Care Program. Her management and leadership capability have been demonstrated in executive roles accountable for the delivery of high quality, high performing, successfully accredited, acute, secondary, primary, community and aged care services, in both public and private sectors.

Biography

Dr Carol Crevacore is an experienced academic dedicated to student learning globally. She is Director of International and Course Coordinator of education programs in Sri Lanka and Singapore. Carol’s award-winning teaching spans over 20 years. Her research focuses on student employment in clinical settings and is currently leading efforts to reduce glove use in WA hospitals to promote sustainable practice.

Biography

Stefanie Edson is an experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioner based at the Royal Hobart Hospital, with a strong focus on acute care, clinical leadership, and improving patient outcomes. She currently serves as the Tasmanian State Chapter Secretary for the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners, advocating for the advancement of the Nurse Practitioner role across the state. Stefanie holds a Master of Nurse Practitioner from Flinders University and has held leadership roles including After Hours Manager and contributor to the hospital’s COVID-19 Emergency Operations Centre. In 2024, she was awarded the Australian College of Nursing Study Tour Scholarship, travelling to Türkiye and Greece to explore global models of nursing excellence. Passionate about innovation in emergency care, Stefanie recently presented at the ACNP National Conference in Cairns and was awarded first place at the Tasmanian Nursing Symposium Poster Competition.
