Biography

Bronwyn Coulton MN(NPrac), GDipNurs(CritCare), BNurs, MACN, RN, NP Bronwyn is a nurse practitioner (NP) who specialises in stroke and cerebrovascular disease. Since endorsement in 2016, Bronwyn has gained extensive experience working as a stroke and neuroscience NP at various tertiary stroke centres in Melbourne. She currently holds clinical NP positions at Austin Health and Royal Melbourne Hospital Mobile Stroke Unit and is a lecturer for the Master of Advanced Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) course at Monash University. Bronwyn’s clinical expertise focuses on the management of acute stroke emergencies, and secondary prevention of cerebrovascular disease. She contributes actively to nursing research and is a passionate teacher of medical, nursing, paramedicine and allied health clinicians within the neuroscience specialty.

Biography

Jennifer Harland has an impressive four decades of healthcare experience. Her career trajectory spans diverse domains, from clinical practice to academic pursuits, and from shaping policy to providing inspirational leadership. Her impact resonates across Government and Non-Government organisations in New South Wales, South Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory. Jennifer’s commitment to education and training is evident through her academic achievements. She holds a Master of Science (Addiction), delving into the complexities of substance use and recovery. Her Master of Arts (Applied Ethics) reflects her deep contemplation on ethical dilemmas in healthcare. Jennifer is the current President of Drug and Alcohol Nurses of Australasia (DANA). Jennifer has also completed Post Graduate Certificates in Intensive Care, Mental Health, Higher Education, and Emergency & Disaster Management. As Director of the Institute of Leadership, Australian College of Nursing, Jennifer is supporting other nurses in their pursuit of excellence.

Biography

Caitlin Kent ERLP 2024 Scholar Caitlin Kent is driven by her love for lifelong learning and improving the well-being of others. As a Registered Nurse with years of frontline experience, she understands the power of improving the health and well-being of others, not just at the bedside - but through health promotion on a broader scale. In her efforts to affect this change, Caitlin is building on her existing Bachelor degrees of Nursing & Business, by completing the Emerging Research Leader Program in 2024 - to help create a health system where people thrive, through practical research that affects positive changes in clinical policies. Caitlin is currently working as a research nurse at Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin and undergoing her Honours in Nursing, in hopes to create a solid foundation of research skills that will enable her to develop her own research into improving health procedures/health outcomes in existing areas of concern.

Biography

Emma is a clinical nurse with over 20 years’ experience in oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplant (BMT) nursing. As a senior clinician, she has deep insight into the toxicities cancer patients face during treatment and is highly aware of their debilitating impact. Emma’s commitment to best practice has led her to focus on managing mucositis in BMT patients, particularly the challenges of pain, swallowing and airway preservation. Improving clinical practice through standardising nursing pathways to reduce practice variation and improve pain management. The ability to combine many years of clinical nursing experience with the Emerging Research Leadership Program (ERLP) has expanded her knowledge and skills giving her confidence to explore new research opportunities. By integrating research into clinical practice, she continues to mentor and support her colleagues. Emma aims to build on insights gained through ERLP to further contribute to clinical excellence and drive innovation in patient care.

Biography

Haustine Patt Panganiban MACN is a Clinical Research Informatics Analyst at The Royal Women's Hospital and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is an internationally trained nurse who completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing overseas in 2007. From 2014 to 2019, he worked at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where he obtained several certificates in Epic Healthcare Systems. In 2020, he moved to Australia to pursue a Master of Nursing at the University of Sydney. He received a scholarship and completed the Emerging Research Leadership Program at the Australian College of Nursing in 2024. Currently, he has been accepted into a Melbourne Academic Centre for Health (MACH) program with the aim of commencing his PhD journey in 2025. Mr Panganiban has worked in health informatics for more than ten years and developed an interest in optimising Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for nursing and clinical research. He has collaborated with multiple research groups interested in these fields, and his collaborations have resulted in significant clinical and health informatics outcomes.
